Let’s cook a delicious pizza at home that will leave you licking your fingers
- Stirring stick
- Large mixing bowl
- A knife
- Clean flat surface
- Source of heat
- 100g semolina or durum wheat flour and some extra for dusting
- 50ml olive oil
- 1 tablespoon of fresh yeast or 1½ tablespoon of dry yeast
- 400g bread flour or all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons of salt
- 275ml lukewarm water
- Lots of cheese(or as much as you like)
- 2 tablespoons of tomato sauce or marinara sauce (You can choose any of your favorite sauces)
The toppings can vary depending on your choice, you can choose all of the different vegetables you like from green peppers to mushrooms. You can make it without any veggies only with cheese.
In the large clean bowl, mix and stir the mixture of semolina, salt and bread flour. Following that, crumble the fresh yeast into the mixture. Make a simple depression or basin at the center of the mixture and pour in almost all the water as well as olive oil. Consecrate the dough together using a stirring stick or your oiled hand since the mixture is somehow a little bit sticky.
Slowly, the dough will take shape and at that point of time, add the remaining amount of water if the dough still has a rough texture or if it’s still hard. Turn the dough out onto a clean flat surface and knead for roughly 10 minutes or until it depicts a smooth and elastic feel. Cut off small pieces of the dough and stretch part of it as much as you can. If you can see light passing through it without tearing it, then it’s ready for the next step.
Return back to the experimental pieces of the dough since they are ready for cooking and make an even ball out of it. Place the ball in an oiled bowl, cover it with a damp tea towel and allow it to expand in a warm place for a period of about 1–1½ hours or so. In the time given, the dough will have already risen or doubled its size and therefore you are supposed to remove the air inside it, remove it from warm place and cut into two equal portions, turn each into a ball shape. Leave both the two balls for about 12-16 minutes.
Place a pizza stone into the oven and preheat it to its highest setting. Then, dust the flat work space with semolina and roll one piece of the dough to form a circle fitting your pizza stone.
Move the pizza base to a baking tray to slide it to the pizza stone. Cover the flat base with chosen sauce, cheese and a topping of your choice and when everything is added , slide the pizza base to the pizza stone and allow it to bake for approximately 10 minutes until brown spots are seen on the surface of the pizza base and toppings start bubbling. Repeat this to the other pizza.
Add some shredded cheese on the top of cooked pizza. Your pizza is ready. You can serve it with a soft drink either during lunch time, breakfast or dinner.
That wasn’t difficult. Was it? You should really try this at home!
